Agentopia was started in 2001 as a research project of Nanyang Technological University of Singapore in collaboration with Technical University of Braunschweig in Germany. The broad goal was to explore and extend networked programming beyond the traditional client/server paradigm.

My name is Kai Ruhl and at the time I was visiting scientist at NTU, mentored by Prof. Heiko Schröder (NTU Singapore) and Prof. Manfred Schimmler (TU Braunschweig). I am deeply indepted to both of them for a great time and a pleasant and innovative way to develop my master thesis.

After the research project was finished, I took over the results and began polishing the Agentopia framework under open source license in my spare time. Although improvements come in quite irregular bursts, the project has survived the last 8 years, and will continue to do so.

I am happy to receive any feedback, as this is further motivation for me to go on with the framework. If you have any questions or comments regarding Agentopia, please do not hesitate to contact me, preferably by email, and I will do my best to accomodate you.

Additional thanks and ACKS go to Dominique Gunia, Matze Fischer and Inna Janssen for discussing, reading and correcting my concepts and papers, to Christian Lindig for supreme mastery of Latex, and to Martin Schilde for website advice and motivation. Thanks to you all.
